Pledge YES to Voice

When it comes to creating a fair and equal Australia, one where the health, wellbeing, safety and opportunity experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is on par with the rest of Australians – we’ve observed governments in Australia make detrimental systematic mistakes. It has only been in recent years that we can see evidence in some areas of governments listening to First Nations peoples, and as a result implementing community-led solutions or co-designed strategies.

Establishing a First Nations Voice to Parliament commits our nation to embracing First Nations people, their Voice and their aspirations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will finally be able to have a direct say on the best steps to ending inequity, injustice and racism facing their communities.

The pathway to a national Referendum is becoming clearer but many steps remain ahead of us on the road to establishing a First Nations Voice to Parliament. Following the PM’s announcement at the Garma Festival in July 2022, more and more Australians will put their hand up in support of First Nations peoples’ right to have a say in matters that affect them.

The journey towards the referendum will be an opportunity for truth-telling and a chance to learn how the Voice to Parliament will make our society stronger.

Join now and help build early awareness with our fellow Australians. Take the pledge today.

The
Pledge

With all my heart I support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people having their Voice heard in the making of laws that relate to them. We need their Voices in our Constitution and I pledge to do what I can to support Yes to Voice at a national Referendum. First Nations people, their language and culture has endured for millennia on this continent, with many other peoples now joining them in calling these lands home. It’s up to today’s generation to insist on a fair go for all of us and that we will walk together in true reconciliation.
