Campaign for Change

ANTAR is working with First Nations leaders and partner organisations to build widespread public support for the implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, in full. Our mission is to elevate Australia, to become the nation we need to become, through the realisation of Voice, Treaty and Truth.

YES TO VOICE, TREATY, TRUTH!

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has committed to the implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and a referendum in 2023 to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the constitution through the establishment of a First Nations Voice to Parliament.

Together we can embrace the Uluru Statement from the Heart. We can answer its patient, gracious call for a Voice enshrined in our constitution. Because all of us ought to be proud that amongst our great multicultural society we count the oldest living continuous culture in the world.

Fittingly for ANTAR’s 25th year as an ally movement in support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice and rights, we will continue to stand with First Nations communities to demand the Uluru Statement’s calls to action are answered.

We are campaigning for a YES vote in the referendum to establish the Voice. We will continue to work at elevating the public conversation on Treaty in the States and Territories and a national Treaty process.

ANTAR stands for the ‘Australia as we must become’ and the referendum is an opportunity to directly pursue that vision for Australia, to elevate the nation.

ANTAR draws on its strengths as a credible ally to First Nations communities; a respected contributor to the debate and a trusted platform for the voices of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders and partners; and a mobiliser of public support for reconciliation, treaty and shared truth.

WHY YES TO VOICE

YES is a Fair Go

One of Australia’s abiding myths is the value of a ‘fair go’ for everyone. The reality has always been something else but there have been, periodically, moments where the values of a fair go have proven decisive. YES for Voice is the essence of a fair go and the embodiment of this Australian value. It is a fair go because it is right. It is a fair go because it is addressing a historic wrong that was not a fair go.

YES means we want something better for each other

First Nations Australians need a Voice, non-Indigenous Australians need First Nations Australians to have a Voice. This change is good for everyone. This is a fresh start. We can have a real conversation when all Voices can be heard.

Allies Say YES

This is when it counts. True allies are there when it counts. This is a collective action for good. Friends and Family are there in a time of need. We don’t fear change, we embrace it. We understand the value of Voice for the First Nations peoples.

It’s time to get it done (and it must not fail)

We won’t let our governments and parliaments be a drag on this long overdue change any longer. We are determined to see this through. We have talked long enough. Years of consultation, of asking and re-asking. We have the answer – Voice, Treaty and Truth for a reconciled Australia.

Elevating Australia

ANTAR’s mission. This is how we progress Justice and Rights for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We elevate the message of First Nations people. We honour the invitation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart – to walk together in a movement of the Australian people for a better future. This is about Australia as it must become.
