Pledge to close the gap

The
Pledge

Join us in demanding equality across all life outcomes for First Nations Australians within the decade.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples still live, on average, 10 years less than non-Indigenous Australians.

Closing the gap is everyone’s business: it is a national issue in which every individual, organisation and group in Australia can play a role.

To achieve equality for First Nations Peoples in Australia, I call on Australian governments to:

  • Commit to providing adequate and long-term financial resources to achieve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equality;
  • Invest in real partnerships, including increased First Nations participation and control around service delivery; and
  • Address critical social issues of housing, education and self-determination that negatively impact on life outcomes.
