First Nations Voice

Voice

The Uluru Statement from the Heart called for a constitutionally enshrined First Nations Voice to Parliament.

On 14 October 2023 the Referendum to recognise First Peoples in Australia’s Constitution through the establishment of a Voice was defeated. Listening to First Nations voices remains crucial to realising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ right to self-determination and progressing rights and justice generally.
