The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (‘UNDRIP’ or ‘the Declaration’) is an important declaration that articulates the rights of Indigenous peoples across the globe.

For the last 13 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, peak organisations and the social justice campaigns they lead, have been using UNDRIP as a key measure for Australia’s approach to Indigenous Affairs. This submission offers some hope for how governments might be increasingly open to being informed and influenced by the UNDRIP as advocated for by First Nations peoples.
