ANTAR would like to express our sadness at the news of the passing of Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue and send our condolences to her family and community.

We are grateful for Dr O’Donoghue’s mighty contribution to the lives of First Nations peoples and the whole of Australian society in her many and varied roles.

In her early working life in nursing, as the first Chairperson of ATSIC, as Patron of the National Sorry Day Committee and her tireless years of service and dedication to First Nations rights and justice, Dr O’Donoghue demonstrated great grace and vision.

While we mourn her passing we also celebrate a great life that inspires all our peoples on this land.
