NGOs: clear path to a referendum held no later than 2016 is needed, racial non-discrimination must stay

A group of leading NGOs have called for a renewed sense of urgency to move towards a referendum to recognise the First Australians in our Constitution.

The group, which coordinates a constitutional recognition network of 40 non-government organisations, called for a much clearer pathway to a referendum that should be held at or before the 2016 Federal Election.
