    At the launch of the Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women’s Voices) report in Broome last week, the Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM observed that that the release of the report marked a line in the sand for our First Nations women and girls, and for all Australians.

  • Who are we now? – Sovereignty in and over Australia

    It’s gone a bit quiet this week, with our Federal parliamentarians deciding to keep their heads down and not further antagonise their Chinese Government counterparts any further. But it was curious observing the Australian reaction and outrage expressed – and on balance rightly – about China’s demands that would impinge on our sovereignty and independence.

  • A breach of faith on constitutional reform

    The Prime Minister and his government outright rejected the Referendum Council proposal for constitutional reform.

    The decision was made without a single meeting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative bodies or other First Nations leaders following the delivery of the Referendum Council Report.

  • Government needs to close respect gap with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

    Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rights advocacy organisation ANTaR today called on government to engage more and listen to First Peoples to develop a better understanding of culture, connection to land, and health and wellbeing. The call comes following the Prime Minister’s comments yesterday about plans to close more than 150 communities in Western Australia where he said that government could not fund ‘lifestylechoices ’.
