Your donation will support our efforts to advocate for justice systems with alternatives to prisons, policing, surveillance and punishment, taking our lead from First Nations-led campaigns, organisations and community services.
With your help we will continue to generate awareness about the harms that our current criminal legal systems create and perpetuate, as well as the urgent need to invest in First Nations community-led solutions.
We will keep the pressure on governments to end the discriminatory laws and policies that see First Nations peoples, including children, over-policed, criminalised, incarcerated, and dying in custody.
Our Justice advocacy grew from the 1991 Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody and the recommendations in its final report, many of which remain unimplemented. The report empowered us to support the creation of the First Nations-led Change the Record campaign a decade ago. ANTAR advocates for raising the minimum age of criminal responsibility, increasing access to culturally responsive diversion services, continuing to develop Justice Reinvestment programs, investing in non-police first responders, and investing in restorative justice. Above all, we are led by the principle of First Nations self-determination, and First Nations community-led solutions.
